In 1477, Archduke Maximilian of Austria commissioned the very first diamond engagement ring on record for his betrothed, Mary of Burgundy. Traditionally, diamonds are the gem of choice for engagement rings.
Today these rings come in all different sizes, styles and metal choices. Platinum, gold (yellow, white & red) & palladium are the most popular. Diamonds are no longer the only symbol of love. You will see rubies, emeralds, sapphires, opal, pearls and even raw diamond slices.
I have photographed many engagement rings, and I still enjoy seeing the variety of creations. Your relationship is unique to you, and your ring should be the same.
